Mother Teresa
"I never will understand all the
good that a simple smile can accomplish"
Mother Teresa (1910-1997) was one of
the most important religious figures of the 20th century. She founded the Missionaries of
Charity in Calcutta, India, was winner of the Noble Prize for Peace, and was described
during her lifetime as "the most powerful woman in the world. She dedicated her life
to serving the poorest of the poor."

Mother Teresa :
In My Own Words
Though Mother Teresa's words may be
spare, her good deeds are abundant. The messages in this lovely collection--directed at
coworkers, sisters, and others eager to hear the words of someone who lived the challenge she presented to
others--are sure to provide inspiration for anyone who reads them. The quotes, stories,
and prayers are a testament to the 1979 Nobel Peace Prize winner's generosity and strength
of spirit: "Good works are links that form a chain of love"; "I never will
understand all the good that a simple smile can accomplish"; "Before judging the
poor, we have to examine with sincerity our own conscience." Mother Teresa's words
and deeds fortified and inspired the poor, the dying, and the suffering. These powerful
messages, combined with black-and-white photos of this highly regarded woman doing the
work she loved, make for a truly unforgettable book.
The Best Gift
Is Love : Meditations by Mother Teresa
This book will bring you closer to the spiritual vision of this
courageous woman. In its pages you will encounter her passion for God, her way of life,
her way of love.
Mother Teresa :
A Simple Path
Known around the globe for her indefatigable work on
behalf of the poor, the sick, and the dying, Mother Teresa has devoted her life to giving
hope to the hopeless in more than one hundred and twenty countries. She inspires us all to find a way to translate
our spiritual beliefs into action in the world. How has one woman accomplished so much?
And what are the guiding principles that have enabled this humble nun to so profoundly
effect the lives of millions?
Now, in her own words, Mother Teresa shares the
thoughts and experiences that have led her to do her extraordinary charitable work. A
candid look at her everyday life--at the very simplicity and self-sacrifice that give her
the strength to move mountains--A Simple Path gives voice to the remarkable spirit who has
dedicated her life to the poorest among us.
Just as important as her beliefs are how they are
put into action in the world, and A Simple Path also tells the story of the founding of
the Missionaries of Charity, their purpose and practice, and the results of their tireless
work.
My Life for the
Poor : Mother Teresa of Calcutta
In this inspiring book, one of the world's most
famous women tells her own story: her childhood, her family, and her early years in
Albania; her work and religious training as a nun; her years teaching in India; her call
to leave her order to serve the poor; the establishment of her Missionaries of Charity;
and the growth of her order, including their life together and the work they have done.
No Greater
Love
Philosophy and Religion Editor's Recommended Book
If No Greater Love doesn't soften your heart, nothing will. Rather than proselytizing, Mother Teresa gives
simple encouragement to love and give and sacrifice. The anecdotes she tells--of the woman
who calls her crippled son "Teacher of Love," or the child who prefers to live
with her mother under a tree to living in the relative comfort of Mother Teresa's
home--evoke a bittersweet tenderness in the reader, a feeling that Mother Teresa is
correct in saying that we must conquer the world not with bombs but with love.

A God-inspired book by a true God-inspired person
Mother Teresa, through her life experiences, presents biblical principles that relate to
the ever-changing world today. This book causes us to re-examine our great commission as
Christians, and to not only Talk the Talk, but Walk the Walk. Through this Humble Lady of
God, many lives have been touched by not only her hands, but her words, including mine.

: A Guide to Daily Living With Mother Teresa
Amazon.com
The authors, who worked closely with Mother Teresa during her lifetime, have drawn
together stories and prayers
inspired by the missionary, who worked tirelessly on behalf of India's poor with her
sisters of charity. Each day of the year is assigned a brief story or blessing: A child
goes without sugar so Mother Teresa may have it; a truckload of bread miraculously arrives
for starving Indians when the rice has run out. Many of the passages are quotes from
Mother Teresa herself, and all of them challenge the reader to live up to her saintly view
of humanity and suffering. If the day-by-day approach doesn't fit, there's an
easy-to-browse index, organized by theme ("cheerfulness," "humility,"
"suffering"). Her standards are high, however, and normal sinners may find her
words more challenging than uplifting.
Everything
Starts from Prayer : Mother Teresa's Meditations on Spiritual Life for People of All
Faiths
"Mother Teresa was on of the great spiritual
servants of our era, whose simple wisdom expressed untold depths of devotion. In this
treasury of her thoughts on prayer, she offers the world another blessing." President
Jimmy Carter, author of Living Faith
Using this book on prayer, please remember that
Mother Teresa always prayed with her actions, her life. Mind, speech, and body in perfect
oneness, that is the solid ground of authentic meditation. The moment you start praying
that way, peace, love, and transformation begin to take place, within yourself and around
you. You do not have to wait for the result in the future Mother Teresa says: the fruit of
prayer is faith, love, service, and peace. All of these take place in the present moment.
Enjoy praying with her. Thich Nhat Hanh, author of Living Buddha, Living Christ
"Mother Teresa's life was a living prayer. Her
words remind us of her connection with God and how all of us can reach Him as she
did." Marianne Williamson, author of Illuminated Prayers
"This book's contents and its title say it all.
Whatever you are looking for starts with prayer. Hopefully you will read and learn that
true prayer is not about personal desires, needs, or religions. Mother Teresa is a role
model for each of us. Pray we may become what she was, and heal the world by using prayer
to lead us on the path to spirituality and God." Bernie Siegel, M.D., author of Love,
Medicine and Miracles
With the publication of Everything Starts from
Prayer, Mother Teresa continues to bless us from beyond the grave. These kernels of truths
fro the nun of Calcutta provide food for the soul. Her messages, though short on words,
are deep in wisdom and spiritual insight, and hold meaning for people of all faiths. Most

"A jewel of a bookEverything Starts from Prayer
is a must for believers of all faiths and for seekers everywhere." Maurice Friedman,

Dr. Sterns editorial hand is sure and judicious; the
selection of material reveals the mystical realization behind Mother Teresas powerful
encomium to prayer in an all-inclusive sense. Thus, the passages are not only spiritually
inspiring (as one would, of course, expect), but intellectually compelling as well. Well
done. Lou Nordstrom, American Zen Teacher, White Plum lineage
