THE NAMES
PROJECT
The "NAMES PROJECT" has a particular importance to me. I designed
one of the sections of the enormous quilt for which the Names Project is most well
known. This section commemorates the life and great love of Mike
Phelan, who was my
long time companion and friend of 14 years.
he is remembered for his kindness, his humor, his flowers, his good taste, his excellent
martinis and his humanity.
he was
particularly fond of Mickey Mouse and the Magic Kingdom, and was a dreamer
of great dreams... accordingly his quilt was adorned with a Mickey Mouse
kite and a favorite quote -
"let's
go fly a kite - up where the air is clear"
"tomorrow,
tomorrow and tomorrow"
